Christine Mitchell

A 2023 graduate of the School of Music at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Christine Mitchell is an elementary band and strings teacher in the Omaha Public Schools, and an oboist.
During her studies at UNO, Christine was the Principal Oboist of the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, as well as a committed member of the Heartland Philharmonic Orchestra. She currently plays in the 43rd Army Band of the Nebraska National Guard in both the concert band and woodwind quintet, a position she has held since 2020. As a band and strings teacher, Christine enjoys working with her students to help them attain fulfilling musical experiences, even as beginners. She holds students to high standards while being approachable and understanding. She also takes her formal training in education into the lesson studio by honing in on students’ learning styles and altering lessons to meet their unique ways of learning. She values making playing less stressful and more enjoyable by helping students to design practice routines that work for their lives. In addition to her Army band performances, Christine has also played with the Rose Theater, the Omaha Symphonic Winds, and for various churches at their Christmas, Lenten, and Easter services. Outside of the world of music, Christine enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and very large cat.
